For 8 years, the Nissan LEAF has been making Westchester NY more environmentally friendly by giving drivers an alternative to vehicles that burn gas (which quite frankly is an expensive chunk of money in our area). We’d like to introduce you to the 2nd-generation 2018 Nissan LEAF!
As you can see, there are a lot of reasons to love the all-new LEAF. Whether it’s the updated appearance, longer driver range or upgraded amenities that are available, this zero-emissions electric vehicle gives you what you’re looking for with a reduced carbon footprint. With that said, let’s take a look at what’s new for the next-gen Nissan LEAF!
2018 Nissan LEAF Design
The new futuristic look of the 2018 Nissan LEAF is inspired by the IDS Concept car that debuted a couple of years ago. Starting up front, you’ll see a new signature V-motion grille that has a clear-blue 3D mesh pattern inside and boomerang projector-beam headlights with dual direct-lens low & high beams.
The silhouette has become more sleek thanks to the silhouette has become more sleek thanks to a horizontal character line, striking lower body highlights and a floating roof. In the rear, a sporty spoiler can be found in the window graphics and the combination lamps have a unique signature.
The LEAF’s new interior continues the exterior’s “cool tech attitude” theme with such appearance features as:
- 7″ full-color center display with high-quality matte chrome finish
- Leather-wrapped steering wheel with matte chrome finish & vibrant blue stitching
- Vibrant blue push button ignition, shift knob and seat/door trim/armrest stitching
- Matte & glossy black finishes on the AC control panel & vent grille
- Dual cupholders between the front seats
- Center console storage area with USB/12-volt outlets
2018 Nissan LEAF Tech
There are so many new amenities you can take advantage of in the 2nd-generation LEAF. Let’s start with the number of Nissan Safety Shield features added to this electric vehicle to help prevent collisions. Some of them include:
- Lane Departure Warning & Intelligent Lane Intervention
- Intelligent Emergency Braking
- Blind Spot Warning
- Rear Cross Traffic Alert
- Around View Monitor with moving object detection
Also updated for 2018 is the Nissan LEAF’s e-powertrain. Not only does the new 40-kWh lithium-ion battery pack offer a 150-mile maximum driving range on a full charge, but the EM57 electric motor increases the power to 147 hp & 236 lb/ft of torque. Those are jumps up of 40%, 38% and 26%, respectively.
The driving experience itself is also more fun and convenient. That’s because of the all-new e-Pedal option, which lets you use just the gas pedal to speed up, slow down and bring the EV to a full stop. No brakes required, so you can be more comfortable by not moving your foot between pedals.
Speaking of comfortable, you can get some help when driving around town or on busy roads like I-95, 287, the Hutch and Merritt Parkway thanks to ProPILOT Assist. When you preset a speed between 20 mph & 90 mph, this driving assistance system automatically controls the distance between your LEAF & the vehicle in front of you while keeping your car straight in your lane.
This is the first step towards a fully self-driving car and we’re so glad to the 2018 Nissan LEAF is part of it. Contact Nissan City to learn more about this zero-emissions electric car and when it’ll arrive at our dealership serving White Plains, New York!
